Former Arizona Men’s Basketball Signee Jamari Phillips Commits to Oregon

 

The men’s basketball programs at Arizona and Oregon will share a connection in the upcoming season, despite no longer being in the same conference.

Jamari Phillips, a former Arizona signee, has committed to Oregon shortly after reopening his recruitment. Phillips, a 4-star combo guard ranked as the No. 52 player in the 2024 class by 247 Sports, had originally signed with Arizon

a in November after committing in December 2022.

Phillips’ potential role at Arizona changed significantly with the return of guards Jaden Bradley, KJ Lewis, and Caleb Love, who all decided to withdraw from the NBA Draft. This shift likely influenced 5-star guard Jason Sanon’s decision to flip to ASU as well.

Phillips follows in the footsteps of another player who made a similar move. In 2014, guard Tyler Dorsey flipped his commitment from Arizona to Oregon, where he averaged 14.1 points over two seasons and 19.3 points in four games against Arizona before being selected in the second round of the 2017 NBA Draft.
