Breaking News: Former Alabama 4-Star LB Commit To Auburn tigers

The Auburn football program has improved its recruiting game since head coach Hugh Freeze took over, particularly when it comes to Alabama, an in-state opponent. The Tigers are fighting to flip many recruits from the Tide this recruiting cycle.

4-star ATH Derick Smith, who is being pursued by Auburn as a wide receiver but is committed to Alabama as a safety, had his first visit to Auburn since he committed to Alabama this past weekend. He had the opportunity to spend time with Marcus Davis, his prospective position coach.

According to Auburn Rivals, Smith stated, “The visit went really well.” “I worked with Coach (Marcus) Davis the entire weekend. Everything he does, in my opinion, is excellent. He seems to be able to advance me to a new level.”

Smith intends to decide officially on signing day following the 2024 regular season, and it will be between the Iron Bowl rivals.
Christian Jones, a 4-star linebacker, made his first visit to Auburn football over the weekend. Jones changed his itinerary and made an official visit to the Plains instead of USC. Jones, a native of Omaha, is the top recruit out of Nebraska and the #20 linebacker in the recruiting class of 2025.

DJ Durkin, the co-defensive coordinator at Auburn who also happened to be Jones’ high school coach and a former Texas A&M recruit, spurred him to make the change in his plans. Auburn Rivals claims that Jones had a lasting memory of the hospitality he encountered on the Plains.

“I would just say I felt a really good culture here,” Jones stated. “I would say that everyone is related, almost like a large family. It seemed like a nice, large family to me.”

Jones is still planning to visit Nebraska and Oklahoma. Instead of making a snap decision, he is concentrating on his upcoming high school season this autumn.
