Done Deal: Just In Another Top Experienced Man Join Texas Longhorns

**Chris Forestier Joins Texas Longhorns as Special Assistant**

Texas football has hired Chris Forestier, the former Arkansas-Pine Bluff (UAPB) special teams coordinator and tight ends coach, as a special assistant. The news was reported by The Football Scoop on June 7.

Forestier will serve as a special assistant to head coach Steve Sarkisian, focusing on special teams—a role previously held by Joe DeCamillis last year.

Earlier this year, Forestier was brought on by UAPB head coach Alonzo Hampton to coordinate special teams and coach tight ends. However, he only spent a few months with the Golden Lions, including participating in spring football.

Before joining UAPB, Forestier was a special teams analyst for the Houston Cougars under head coach Dana Holgorsen in 2022 and 2023. He worked with the Cougars during their first year in the Big 12. At Houston, Forestier collaborated with new Texas transfer Matthew Golden, a standout wide receiver and special teams playmaker who returned multiple kickoffs for touchdowns.

During Forestier’s tenure as a special teams analyst at Houston, the team ranked second in the Big 12 for blocked field goals (three), third in average kickoff return yards (21.6), and fifth in net punting yards (40.8). His responsibilities included assisting with game-planning and daily coaching for various special teams units.

An LSU alum, Forestier served as a special teams assistant at LSU from 2016 to 2022. His first coaching role at the collegiate level was as a graduate assistant at Northwestern State in 2015.

Forestier is the first special assistant hire by the Longhorns this offseason. Last year’s special assistants—Joe DeCamillis, Payam Saadat, and Paul Chryst—have all left the program.
