Texas Wins Recruiting Battle for In-State 2025 Cornerback
Head coach Steve Sarkisian continues to excel in recruiting for the Texas Longhorns, adding another strong commitment for the 2025 class.
Caleb Chester, a consensus three-star cornerback from Missouri City, Texas, is the latest addition to Texas’ roster. Chester received an offer from Texas in May 2023 and has been a top target for the Longhorns’ coaching staff since then. This commitment is particularly significant as Texas beat out competitors like Texas A&M, TCU, Arkansas, and LSU.
Securing in-state recruits is vital in Texas, making Chester’s decision to join the Longhorns a notable victory over the Aggies and Horned Frogs. Chester was swayed by the Texas experience and the opportunity to be coached by cornerbacks coach Terry Joseph.
“It was really just ‘Why not Austin?” Chester told 247Sports before making his decision. “It was the biggest school, I want to major in business and they have the best business school in the country. It’s close to home and I’m still in Texas. I’m getting coached by coach Joseph. He’s a great guy with a great resume. I’m also being coached by coach Sark. He’s one of the winningest coaches in college football right now. Everything else was just great. There was no reason for me not to go to Texas.”
According to the 247Sports Composite, Chester is ranked as the No. 71 cornerback in the 2025 class. With Chester’s commitment, Texas now boasts 11 commitments for 2025.
