As of right now, Texas football’s 2025 recruiting class is No. 16. But the hiring process is far from finished. In the coming months, Texas could move up from a top-20 recruiting class to a top-three one if things go well for the Longhorns.
During the month of April, Texas has welcomed a number of noteworthy arrivals. These players include defensive lineman Brandon Brown, running back James Simon, three-star offensive tackle Jordan Coleman, four-star linebacker Elijah Barnes, and running back Rickey Stewart. Despite having 11 solid commitments overall, Texas has not yet secured a five-star recruit.
But with five-star wide receivers Dakorien Moore, Jaime Ffrench, and Kaliq Lockett drawing attention from Texas, there is still hope for the Longhorns. The three wide receivers, who are ranked No. 1, No. 4, and No. 2 in the country, respectively, have a good possibility of selecting Texas in the upcoming weeks.
Earlier in the recruitment season, Moore committed to LSU before deciding to withdraw, and the data on recruiting appears to be favoring Texas. Oregon and Ohio State, two of his other top colleges, are still in the running, but the Longhorns will probably go all out to secure his choice on June 14, when he makes his formal visit to Texas. Moore is referred to be the “whole package” due to his strength, quickness, and route running prowess. He held 71 passes for more than 1500 yards during his junior year, when he also captured his second straight Texas 6A title.
Additionally, Ffrench said that one of the universities he was most seriously considering was Texas. Right now, he is most interested in Texas; LSU and Miami are close behind. Ffrench is big-boned and an excellent route runner, and his official visit is scheduled for June 21. He had 14 touchdowns and 62 receptions in his junior year of 2023.
Lockett has also given the Texas program high marks, and he will be joining French on June 21 for his formal visit. With 1,299 yards in 2023, Lockett’s powerful hands make him a desirable target for the Longhorn recruiting class.
Is it possible for Texas to sign all three of these recruits? While uncommon, instances akin to this have happened. Four of the top ten receivers were acquired by Alabama in 2021, and Texas A&M signed the top two and third receivers in 2022.
In addition to the wide outs, Texas has the potential to sign No. 3 offensive tackle Michael Fasusi, a five-star prospect. The native of Lewisville, Texas, who has publicly shown his respect for the Longhorns, is scheduled to visit the Forty Acres on June 21.
“Dude, I adore Texas. I’ve visited there quite a few times,” Fasusi remarked. My family and I am always impressed by them. When we get down there, it’s always love; there’s never anything negative or unpleasant.”
Acquiring these athletes will propel Texas to a very high rating in the 2025 recruiting class—possibly to one of the top three spots, now held by Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Alabama.
