Breaking: Vegas Golden Knights Confirm On The Verge Of Signing Fans Favorite NHL Star In Blockbuster Trade

NHL Rumours: Golden Knights Eyeing Major Trade

Welcome to another edition of NHL Rumours! As Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final approaches, the league’s trade buzz continues to grow. Today’s focus is on the Vegas Golden Knights and their potential for a significant trade move.

NHL Rumours

**Rumour: Elliotte Friedman Talks Vegas Golden Knights and Mitch Marner**

Mitch Marner stands out as a prime trade asset currently. Despite attention on goaltenders Jacob Markstrom (Calgary Flames) and Linus Ullmark (Boston Bruins), Marner remains a top player. As part of the Maple Leafs’ “core four,” he has significantly influenced the team’s roster in recent years. His trade potential is heightened by his contract status—Marner is in the final year of his $10.9 million contract, which includes a full no-movement clause that started last year, complicating any potential move.

On TSN’s Insider Trading, it was revealed that Marner plans to train in the offseason and return for training camp. There’s speculation he will play out his contract’s final year, which poses a dilemma for Brad Treliving. Treliving previously watched Johnny Gaudreau leave for free after the 2021-22 season, a situation he wants to avoid with Marner. However, current NHL rumours suggest there might be a trade opportunity.

Another Vegas Blockbuster?

Friedman mentioned that the Vegas Golden Knights could pursue Marner. Despite sounding far-fetched due to Vegas having less than $2 million in cap space, a trade could be possible by moving key players, making it a blockbuster deal.

Marner would provide a significant offensive boost for the Golden Knights, potentially playing alongside Jack Eichel or Tomas Hertl. With questions about re-signing Jonathan Marchessault, Marner’s addition could be timely and advantageous due to his youth and skill.

Known for his two-way play, Marner was a finalist for the Selke Trophy in the 2022-23 season. He has been a consistent scorer throughout his career, never finishing a season with fewer than 50 points and achieving a career-high 99 points in the 2022-23 season. As a three-time 90-point player, Marner’s addition would be substantial for Vegas.
