ESPN SAD NEWS REPORT: Mike Macdonald Confirm Major Set Backs With Two Seahawks Stars Now Confirmed To Substain Major Injuries In Traning Camp

Seahawks to Miss Jerome Baker and Tyrel Dodson Until Training Camp

Injuries are sidelining Seattle Seahawks linebackers Jerome Baker and Tyrel Dodson from offseason workouts, preventing them from participating in drills.

The Seahawks are planning on Baker and Dodson as their starting linebacker duo for the upcoming season, but head coach Mike Macdonald announced at Tuesday’s mandatory minicamp that both players are out until training camp at the earliest. Dodson is dealing with an undisclosed injury that will keep him out until late next month, while Baker is recovering from a season-ending wrist surgery that ended his time with the Miami Dolphins.

With Baker and Dodson unavailable, Jon Rhattigan and Patrick O’Connell took over first-team duties during the first minicamp practice of the week, continuing their roles from OTAs. The current linebacker depth includes Rhattigan, O’Connell, rookie Tyrice Knight, Drake Thomas, and undrafted free agents Easton Gibbs and Devin Richardson, who collectively have just 23 NFL regular season snaps (19 by Rhattigan and 4 by Thomas).

The Seahawks released Bobby Wagner and Jordyn Brooks in free agency, replacing them with Baker and Dodson on one-year contracts. Knight was the only inside linebacker drafted by Seattle this year. This situation places significant reliance on the free agent signings and the defensive coaching staff to address depth concerns. Although neither Baker nor Dodson is expected to miss regular season games, their absence from offseason reps in a new system is far from ideal.
