**Jimmy Butler Clarifies Comments That Sparked Lakers Trade Speculation**
Amid negotiations for a contract extension with the Miami Heat, Jimmy Butler’s remarks during the Dallas Wings vs. Los Angeles Sparks game on Friday night caused a stir online. Although Butler’s future with the Heat is still uncertain, his comments captured the attention of Los Angeles Lakers fans.
Nikki Kay of Spectrum Sports reported that Butler mentioned, “22 looks good in purple and gold.” Given that 22 is Butler’s number with the Heat, this comment fueled speculation about a potential trade to the Lakers, especially if the Heat decide not to offer him the max contract extension he seeks.
However, Butler quickly addressed the rumors on the Sparks’ Instagram page after the game. He clarified that his comments were about supporting Sparks rookie Cameron Brink, not hinting at a trade.
“First and foremost, y’all see this shirt/jersey I’m wearing right now. 22 purple and gold says Brink, not Butler, unfortunately. Sorry LA fans,” Butler said. “But hey, shoutout to you, Cam. Thank you for all the love and support.”
Brink had an impressive performance for the Sparks, contributing 10 points, 10 rebounds, two steals, and two blocks in their 81-72 victory.
While the Lakers might be looking for a third star, it seems unlikely that Butler will join LeBron James and Anthony Davis in Los Angeles anytime soon.
