**Cleveland Browns GM Provides Key Update on Deshaun Watson’s Injury**
Last season, the Cleveland Browns’ campaign was hindered early on due to a shoulder injury that sidelined quarterback Deshaun Watson. General Manager Andrew Berry has now provided an update on Watson’s recovery and his prospects for the season opener.
Watson entered the NFL with a bang in 2017 as a first-round draft pick for the Houston Texans. Despite a rookie season cut short by injury, he quickly became one of the league’s top young quarterbacks, leading the Texans to division titles in 2018 and 2019 and topping the league in passing yards in 2020.
However, Watson’s career has been marred by legal troubles off the field. In 2021, he was sued by numerous female massage therapists for sexual harassment and assault, which led to him sitting out the entire season. Despite denying the allegations and settling 20 of the claims, his off-field issues and conflicts with the Texans’ front office resulted in a trade to Cleveland in 2022. The Browns signed Watson to a five-year, $230 million contract, a testament to his talent despite the scandals. Unfortunately, a shoulder injury kept him out for much of last season, making the upcoming season pivotal for him.
**Andrew Berry’s Update on Deshaun Watson’s Recovery**
Recently, Andrew Berry provided an update on Watson’s recovery. According to an article by Nick Shook on the NFL’s official website, Berry is optimistic about Watson’s progress.
“Deshaun has really worked his tail off during the rehabilitation process over the last several months,” Berry said during an appearance on The Insiders. “He’s actually ahead of schedule. He’s eager to get back on the field. He’s had a really nice spring, throwing the ball well and performing well during our 7-on-7 and team periods in veteran minicamp. We’re excited to see him in training camp with the pads on,” Shook reported.
Despite Watson’s absence, the Browns finished the regular season with an 11-6 record in the AFC North Division but were eliminated by CJ Stroud and the Houston Texans in the Wild Card Round.
The Browns are hopeful that Watson will return in top form, which could significantly enhance their performance against various NFL contenders this season.
