Breaking: Raiders Owner Confirm To Regret Giving out $110 Million Contract to Star Player And Call For Termination

Raiders May Regret $110 Million Contract for Star Player

The Las Vegas Raiders’ most significant offseason move was signing defensive tackle Christian Wilkins to a four-year, $110 million contract. While expensive, Wilkins proved his worth last season with 9.0 sacks, establishing himself as a top defensive tackle in the NFL.

With Wilkins joining star defensive end Maxx Crosby, the Raiders now boast a formidable defensive line. However, not everyone supports this decision. Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report predicted the team might regret this hefty contract.

“The 28-year-old Wilkins isn’t a game-changer,” Gagnon wrote on June 19. “He’s never been an All-Pro, a Pro Bowler, nor has he posted a double-digit approximate value. He’s also never had a season with 10 sacks or more than two forced fumbles. Yet, he’ll count more than $30 million against the cap in 2025, 2026, and 2027.”

Pro Football Focus previously ranked Wilkins as the NFL’s 10th-best defensive tackle. This ranking may not justify his $27.5 million annual salary, but it shows he is far from being a mediocre player. Additionally, Wilkins is expected to thrive on a talented defensive line alongside Crosby, Malcolm Koonce, and Tyree Wilson.

Wilkins Making a Strong Impression

Despite potential future regrets, Wilkins has made a positive early impact on the Raiders with his work ethic and athleticism.

“He’s a worker, so I love having guys that are like-minded around,” Crosby said on June 11. “We’re feeding off each other’s energy. We love football, and that’s really all that matters.”

Head coach Antonio Pierce also praised Wilkins.

“The other day, we went over to the [Las Vegas] Aces, played a little basketball, did some team bonding,” Pierce shared on June 10. “Christian Wilkins was the best player. A 300-pound man dunking, showing leadership, passion, and a desire to win.”

Early indications suggest Wilkins will be a significant player for the Raiders.

Wilkins Excited to Team Up with Crosby

Wilkins, known for his strong work ethic, is determined to justify his contract. He has long admired Crosby and is enthusiastic about their partnership.

“I’ve known Maxx since college. Seeing him up close daily, it’s like, ‘Damn, this guy doesn’t stop,’” Wilkins said on June 12. “He’s focused on the right things, and that motivates me to bring my best every day. We feed off each other’s energy.”

This dynamic duo aims to elevate the Raiders’ defense and prove the investment in Wilkins was worth it.
