Done Deal: Denver Broncos Confirm The Signing Of Another Top Experienced Star To A Three Year Deal

Report: Broncos Sign OLB Dondrea Tillman to a Three-Year Deal

Pending a physical, the Denver Broncos are set to sign former UFL star linebacker Dondrea Tillman, according to Mike Klis of 9NEWS Denver. Tillman, who recently played for the championship-winning Birmingham Stallions, is anticipated to join the Broncos.

After a recent workout with the Broncos, Tillman will undergo a physical and must be released from his UFL contract—a formality—before officially signing with Denver. Once finalized, he is expected to sign a three-year, $2.84 million deal, including a $10,000 signing bonus, as reported by Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2.

Following his signing, the Broncos will need to make a roster adjustment to accommodate Tillman on their 90-man roster.

Tillman, a 26-year-old outside linebacker, stands 6-3 and weighs 270 pounds. This past season with the Birmingham Stallions, he recorded 36 tackles and 4 sacks, contributing to their strong defense. Over his three seasons with the Stallions, who have won three consecutive championships, Tillman totaled 92 tackles and 8.5 sacks.

Joining the Broncos, Tillman will compete for a roster spot or a position on the practice squad as an edge rusher. He will contend with Jonathon Cooper, Baron Browning, Nik Bonitto, rookie Jonah Elliss, Ronnie Perkins, Thomas Incoom, Durrell Nchami, and rookie Jaylon Allen. Cooper, Browning, Bonitto, and Elliss are secure in their spots, but Tillman could vie for one of the remaining positions.

Tillman may also see action along the defensive line in Vance Joseph’s 3-4 defense, given his size and frame. Additionally, he could contribute on special teams, particularly with the new kickoff rule requiring larger defenders to block and tackle on return units. This could be Tillman’s best chance to make the team outside of excelling as an edge rusher during training camp and the preseason.

Signings like these are intriguing because they offer a chance for a player who has performed well in developmental leagues to prove himself in the NFL. Tillman will be an interesting player to watch during training camp and the preseason, with hopes that he can make a significant impact on the team.
