Alabama Secures Top California Offensive Tackle Jackson Lloyd
Carmel (Calif.) offensive tackle Jackson Lloyd has committed to Alabama, making him the top offensive lineman in California to join the Tide.
Jackson Lloyd’s Commitment
Lloyd, a standout player from Carmel, California, chose Alabama, citing the program’s history and success. “Getting an offer from Alabama was surreal,” Lloyd shared. “I never imagined myself there, but now that I have the opportunity, it’s incredible. Coach DeBoer’s consistent prioritization of me, even at different schools, played a big role.”
He praised Alabama’s coaching staff, particularly Chris Kapilovic, Courtney Morgan, and Kalen DeBoer, highlighting their strong relationships. Lloyd was also impressed by Alabama’s winning culture, top-notch facilities, and the close-knit environment in Tuscaloosa.
Competing Offers
Lloyd’s top six choices included Alabama, Ohio State, Oregon, Stanford, Tennessee, and USC. He had official visits planned for Ohio State, Alabama, and USC. However, his visit to Tuscaloosa solidified his decision in favor of Alabama.
Recruiting Rankings
Ranked as a four-star recruit by 247Sports, Lloyd is the No. 146 overall player, No. 16 offensive tackle nationally, and No. 13 prospect in California. The 247Sports Composite Rankings place him at No. 187 overall, No. 19 offensive tackle, and No. 17 in California for the class of 2025.
Fit with Alabama
Lloyd is Alabama’s second offensive tackle commit for the 2025 class and the highest-rated offensive line recruit for the Tide. He is also the fourth commit from California in this class, showcasing Alabama’s strong West Coast recruiting presence, aided by general manager Courtney Morgan’s Southern California connections.
Scouting Report
Lloyd is a multi-sport athlete, excelling in basketball and baseball alongside football. He is known for his impressive physical attributes, including an 80+ inch wingspan and versatility on the field, playing predominantly left tackle but also lining up on the right side and occasionally at defensive tackle.
His strengths include moving well, playing physically, and consistently overpowering opponents. While he sometimes plays high and can improve his short-area quickness, his physical tools and aggressive playstyle make him a promising prospect. Without a dedicated off-season strength program due to his participation in baseball, Lloyd is expected to make significant strides in strength once he joins a college program. He projects as a true tackle capable of playing at the highest level.
