Auburn Secures 4-Star RB Alvin Henderson from Penn State
Auburn made a significant in-state acquisition and secured its highest-rated prospect for the 2025 class when running back Alvin Henderson, ranked No. 55 in the ESPN 300, switched his commitment from Penn State to Auburn on Friday.
“#WAREAGLE. I’m staying home,” Henderson announced on Twitter/X.
The four-star running back from Elba, Alabama, had been committed to the Nittany Lions since April 11. His decision comes after recent visits to both Auburn and Penn State. With this change, Henderson becomes the 10th ESPN 300 commit in Hugh Freeze’s second recruiting class with the Tigers.
Last fall, Henderson accumulated 225 carries for 3,532 yards and set a state record with 61 touchdowns. He joins offensive tackles Tavaris Dice (No. 150 in ESPN 300) and Broderick Shull (No. 227) among Auburn’s top offensive prospects for this cycle. Additionally, five-star quarterback Julian Lewis, the nation’s No. 1 overall recruit committed to USC, visited the Tigers officially last weekend.
Henderson’s switch is a significant setback for James Franklin’s 2025 class at Penn State. The 5-foot-10 running back was the highest-ranked prospect committed to Penn State for the upcoming cycle. Following Henderson’s departure, ESPN 300 commits Brady O’Hara (No. 4 TE-Y) and Lyrick Samuel (No. 33 wide receiver) remain as the top offensive recruits for the Nittany Lions in 2025.
