Alabama Fans Celebrate 4-Star QB Commit Winning Elite 11 Finals MVP
A second Alabama football commit has been named the Most Valuable Player at the Elite 11 Finals.
Tua Tagovailoa, a former Crimson Tide quarterback, experienced a similar accolade at the 2016 Elite 11. Tagovailoa, a native Hawaiian, defied expectations and evolved from a talented player to a complete quarterback during the event. He joined the University of Alabama in 2017 and led the Tide to a College Football Playoff National Championship in his first season. Tagovailoa became one of the program’s top quarterbacks and was drafted fifth overall in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Keelon Russell, a four-star recruit from Duncanville High School in Texas, shows similar promise. Competing at the Elite 11, Russell earned MVP honors in the finals. He is committed to the Crimson Tide for the 2025 class. In 2023, Russell accumulated 3,483 passing yards, 38 touchdowns, and three interceptions as a junior. He led Duncanville to a state championship and aims to secure another one. Alabama fans reacted enthusiastically on X after witnessing their prospect win the top prize at the Elite 11.
