**Rangers’ Max Scherzer Announces Return from Injury**
Max Scherzer is set to rejoin the Texas Rangers, who have been struggling this season. Scherzer, a three-time Cy Young Award winner, last pitched in Game 3 of the previous World Series, where he delivered three shutout innings in a 3-1 win against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Unfortunately, a back injury has kept him from contributing to the team’s efforts to defend their title this year.
According to MLB.com’s Kennedi Landry, Scherzer confirmed he will make his return on Sunday.
“Max Scherzer says he’s pitching tomorrow in the series finale against the Royals,” Landry tweeted.
Additional details were provided by the Texas Rangers’ PR team.
“RHP Max Scherzer is expected to start for the Rangers in tomorrow’s series finale against Kansas City at Globe Life Field,” the Rangers tweeted. “He is scheduled to be activated from the 60-day Injured List (rehab from back surgery) pre-game on Sunday, and will be seeking his season debut.”
At 39, Scherzer’s potential to return to his peak performance remains a question, but the Rangers are in dire need of his skill and experience.
