Two UFL players are apparently attracting the attention of the Tennessee Titans. First, general manager Ran Carthon has tested veteran defensive end Breeland Speaks, according to AtoZ Sports. Speaks won Defensive Player of the Year this season after leading the league in sacks with 9.5 QB takedowns.
The name Speaks is well-known. The Kansas City Chiefs selected the former Ole Miss standout in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Before signing with the Michigan Panthers of the USFL in 2022, he roamed throughout the league. He led the spring league in sacks and continued to work hard in the UFL after the USFL and XFL combined.
Following the loss of Denico Autry to the Houston Texans in unrestricted free agency, the Titans may still be on the market for an outside linebacker or defensive end. Speaks has undoubtedly shown that he is too talented for the UFL and XFL divisions. He ought to have a chance to save his NFL career.
According to AtoZ Sports, the Titans are also reportedly considering Juwan “Sonic” Manigo, a wide receiver and special teams returner from the United Football League.
Manigo spent the previous season as a player for the Arlington Renegades. With Calvin Ridley, DeAndre Hopkins, Tyler Boyd, Treylon Burks, and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, the Titans have a wealth of receivers, but Manigo would probably be included as returner. This previous season, he ranked seventh in punt return yards (123) and second in the league in kick return yards (962).
Through required minicamp and organized team activities (OTAs), a large number of Titans players gained experience at both the kickoff and punt returner positions. Jha’Quan Jackson, a rookie sixth-round receiver, is one of the competitors. Should Manigo sign with the Titans before training camp, he would be a strong candidate given his past.
