A maximum contract extension has been agreed upon between Scottie Barnes and the Toronto Raptors. The original worth of the five-year contract is estimated to be $225 million, but if he is eligible for a supermax contract, that amount could rise to almost $270 million. The source claims that Barnes intends to sign the deal soon after the NBA’s July 6 signing ban expires. Starting in the 2025–2026 season, the contract will pay around $39 million, with the possibility of an increase to approximately $51 million by the 2029–2030 season, provided supermax standards are met the following year.
Barnes’ rookie deal expires in the following season, and he will make roughly $10 million.
After winning his first All-Star selection this past season and being voted the NBA’s Rookie of the Year in 2021–22, he has established himself as the Raptors’ key player going forward.
With career-best averages of 19.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 6.1 assists in the most recent season, his play has steadily improved.
Over his three-year professional career, Barnes, a forward from Florida State, has averaged 16.6 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 4.7 assists. He entered the NBA as the No. 4 overall choice in the 2021 draft.
