The Pittsburgh Penguins have started their offseason by re-signing goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic, one of their pending unrestricted free agents, on June 21. The deal is for two years with an average annual value (AAV) of $2.5 million. **Nedeljkovic’s Resurgent 2023-24 Season**
After not being re-signed by the Detroit Red Wings last offseason, the 29-year-old Nedeljkovic joined the Penguins on a one-year deal. He secured the backup spot behind Tristan Jarry, outperforming fellow offseason signee Magnus Hellberg.
Following a disappointing season with the Red Wings and their AHL affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins, the Penguins hoped for a bounce-back performance from the former Carolina Hurricane. Nedeljkovic delivered, especially as Jarry showed inconsistency. His strong play helped keep the Penguins in playoff contention, and from March 24 through the end of the regular season, he was the goalie of record in all but one game, finishing with an 8-1-3 record in 12 games. Overall, he posted an 18-7-7 record and a 2.97 goals-against average (GAA).
