Official BAMA News: Just In Alabama Confirm Major Set backs As Another Top Nick Saban Favorite Recruit 5-Star Departs Alabama Football Team

Top 2024 Receiver Ryan Williams Decommits from Alabama

Five-star wide receiver Ryan Williams has decommitted from the Alabama Crimson Tide following the news of Nick Saban’s retirement. This marks the beginning of roster changes for Alabama football, both currently and in future signing classes.

Williams, a standout from Saraland, announced his decision to decommit, citing the departures of Saban and former wide receiver coach Holmon Wiggins as major reasons, according to a report by On3.

Williams had committed to Alabama in October 2022 but did not officially sign during the early signing period in December. Despite his commitment, Auburn has remained a strong contender for his recruitment.

The in-state receiver from Saraland High School holds titles as the Gatorade Player of the Year and Mr. Football for Alabama. He reclassified from the 2025 class and intends to sign on his birthday, February 9.

In his recent season, Williams caught 72 passes for 1,324 yards and 19 touchdowns and added 261 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on 30 carries for the Class 6A runners-up.

Re-recruiting Williams will be a priority for Alabama’s new coach, as Williams is now heavily considering their major rival, the Auburn Tigers.
