Official Vols News: Just In Vols Confirm Major Boost To Roster As Another Top Talented 5-Star SEC Football player Commits To Vols

Tennessee Recruiting Review – June Brings New Commits to the Vols

Under head coach Josh Heupel, the Tennessee Volunteers have experienced a significant resurgence. As Heupel approaches his fourth season, the improvements in the team’s roster reflect more than just their offensive strategy; the overall quality has risen under his leadership.

A key factor in this success is Heupel’s aggressive approach to recruiting, despite sanctions from the previous regime. Hired in January 2021, Heupel’s first recruiting class in 2022 has left a lasting impact. The current roster embodies his vision, and June was crucial for shaping the 2025 recruiting class.

New Commits in June

– **Douglas Utu, OT** – 6/24
– **Nic Moore, IOL** – 6/20
– **Jayden Loftin, EDGE** – 6/12
– **Tre Poteat, CB** – 6/25
– **Charles House, DL** – 6/22

With just 15 commits, there’s still work to be done for the 2025 class. The Vols are targeting several top prospects, including five-star OT David Sanders, who visited twice in the spring/summer, giving Tennessee a strong chance in his recruitment. Another elite prospect is five-star receiver Jaime French from Jacksonville, Florida, who is set to decide by August 30th, with Tennessee being one of four schools he visited. Additionally, the Vols are heavily pursuing five-star WR Caleb Cunningham.

Defensively, Tennessee is eyeing top-ranked players like five-star EDGE Jared Smith, who visited in June and also checked out Florida State and USC. Four-star safety LaGonza Hayward from Toombs County, Georgia, has been a long-time target, though recent visits to South Carolina and Georgia might influence his decision.

The early National Signing Day for the 2025 recruiting class is December 4th. As of June 28th, 60% of the top-100 recruits on the consensus 247sports rankings have already committed, indicating the fast-paced nature of today’s recruiting landscape.
