Done Dea: Steve Sarkisian Confirm To Secure Another Commitment Of Another Top Highly Rated Talented Star

Four-Star EDGE Smith Orogbo Commits to Texas

The Texas Longhorns have secured a significant win in their recruitment efforts, landing four-star EDGE rusher Smith Orogbo from Alief Hastings. This news comes after a challenging weekend where several targets committed to other schools.

Orogbo’s commitment was a closely watched battle between Texas and the Oklahoma Sooners, both of whom he visited during the busy June period. Texas made it clear that Orogbo was a priority, with defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski and new defensive line coach Kenny Baker playing key roles in securing his commitment over their Red River rivals.

Standing at 6’4″ and weighing 220 pounds, Orogbo brings versatility to the Texas defense, with the potential to add weight and play either inside or as an edge rusher. Ranked No. 117 nationally and No. 21 in Texas according to the 247Sports Composite, Orogbo received 39 offers but ultimately focused on six schools, including Texas.

Orogbo joins a strong recruiting class for Texas, which includes No. 65 overall DL Lance Jackson and No. 106 overall LB Elijah Barnes. His addition moves Texas up to No. 16 nationally in recruiting rankings.

Orogbo has a slender yet athletic frame, with the potential to gain more mass in college. He shows good length, burst, and quickness, which can challenge offensive linemen. His tape demonstrates straight-line speed, effective use of hands, leverage, and a strong motor in pursuit. Though still developing, Orogbo has the foundational traits desired in an EDGE rusher and is poised to be molded into a standout player in college.
