ESPN Sad News: Just In Vegas Golden Knights Confirm The Departure Of Another Top Experienced Star

The Ottawa Senators have signed forward Michael Amadio to a three-year contract, as announced by the team on Monday afternoon.

Amadio, 28, scored 14 goals and recorded 27 points in 73 games with the Vegas Golden Knights during the 2023-24 regular season. Standing at 6’1″, the right winger also added one goal and two points in four games during the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

TSN’s Darren Dreger was the first to report the signing. Amadio’s new deal with the Senators extends through the 2026-27 season and has an annual cap hit of $2.6 million.

Drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the third round (90th overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft, Amadio began his NHL career with the Kings in the 2017-18 season following a successful junior career with the OHL’s North Bay Battalion.

After spending parts of four seasons with the Kings, Amadio was traded to the Senators in 2021 for defenseman Christian Wolanin. He played five games with the Senators at the end of the 2020-21 season, registering one assist.

Amadio was signed by the Toronto Maple Leafs on July 28, 2021, but was placed on waivers less than a month into the season. The Golden Knights claimed him, and he became a regular in their lineup, scoring five goals and ten points in 16 playoff games to help Vegas win its first Stanley Cup in 2023.

Throughout his NHL career, spanning 369 games with the Kings, Senators, Maple Leafs, and Golden Knights, Amadio has scored 57 goals and tallied 112 points. He has also contributed six goals and 13 points in 21 playoff games.

The Senators have been active in free agency, agreeing to new contracts with David Perron, Noah Gregor, and Amadio. However, they have yet to reach an agreement with RFA forward Shane Pinto.
