Good News: Just In Colorado Avalanche Sign Top Talented Star

DENVER The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club signed defenseman Calle Rosen to a one-year deal today, effective for the 2024–25 campaign.

After splitting the 2019–20 season between the Avalanche and the Colorado Eagles of the AHL, Rosen, 30, is back with the Avalanche organization. That season, he made appearances in 35 games for the Eagles and eight for the parent club. Rosen finished the game with 15 points (3g/12a) for the Eagles.

The 6-foot-1, 188-pound defenseman played 68 games with the Springfield Thunderbirds of the AHL, scoring 33 points (2g/31a). The Thunderbirds defensemen led by 31 helpers, while the 33 points were good for third place among blueliners. Rosen played for the St. Louis Blues in six games and contributed one assist.

Rosen, a native of Vaxjo, Sweden, has played 93 regular-season NHL games with the Blues, Avalanche, and Toronto Maple Leafs, accumulating 31 points (11g/20a). In 2022–2023 he set personal bests with the Blues in terms of games played (49), goals (8), and assists (10) in the NHL. Rosen participated in nine Stanley Cup Playoff games for St. Louis during his lone NHL postseason campaign in 2021–2022. With 289 games played and a career scoring line of 25 goals and 132 assists with the Thunderbirds, Eagles, and Toronto Marlies from 2017 to 24, the rearguard joins the AHL in 2024–25. He also won the Calder Cup with the Marlies in 2017–18.
After playing professionally in Sweden, Rosen inked a two-year, entry-level contract with the Maple Leafs on May 16, 2017. During his SHL career, which he played in 96 regular-season games with the Vaxjo Lakers from 2014 to 2017, he scored 33 points (9g/24a). In 106 regular-season games with Karlskrona HK and Rogle BK, Rosen scored 40 points (18g/22a) in the second tier league in Sweden from 2012 to 2015.
