Deal Agreed: Dallas Mavericks Confirm On The Verge Of Signing Top NBA Veteran Forward

**Rumors: Mavericks Eyeing Cavaliers’ Veteran Forward**

Following their sign-and-trade for Klay Thompson, the Dallas Mavericks have just one roster spot left.

This offseason, Dallas has also signed Naji Marshall and traded for Quentin Grimes, complementing their young core well.

With the additions of Grimes and Thompson, Luka Doncic will have plenty of new shooters to pass to. The Mavericks now need to decide who will take the final roster spot.

While many Mavs fans are hoping for Dennis Smith Jr., the team hasn’t been officially linked to him yet.

**Mavericks Interested in Marcus Morris**

If the Mavericks opt to bolster their frontcourt instead of the backcourt, they might consider Marcus Morris, whose brother played for Dallas last season.

According to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Mavericks are among the teams interested in signing Marcus Morris. Morris recently played for the Cleveland Cavaliers and could be a strong fit for Dallas.

Last season, Morris averaged 6.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 0.7 assists per game, shooting 43.9 percent from the field and 40.3 percent from three-point range. While he isn’t the same player he was with the LA Clippers, Morris could still be a valuable addition to the Mavs’ bench.

Morris is an excellent catch-and-shoot player who would bring toughness, physicality, and leadership. His brother, Markieff Morris, was valuable to the Mavericks for his veteran presence in the locker room, despite limited playing time.

Marcus could provide a similar off-court impact and a stronger on-court presence. He’s a versatile scorer, capable of hitting threes, driving to the rim, scoring with his back to the basket, or making mid-range jumpers.

Defensively, Marcus is physical and intense, holding his own in the post and staying with some perimeter players, though his quickness isn’t great.

Adding Marcus Morris to fill the final roster spot could help support Maxi Kleber and P.J. Washington.
