Official Bama News: Alabama Confirm Major Blow As Two Top Highly Rated Stars Decommit from Alabama Football’s 2025

Two Recruits Decommit from Alabama Football’s 2025 Class

Alabama football experienced two decommitments from its 2025 recruiting class on Wednesday. Linebacker Miles Johnson and athlete Zymear Smith both announced they are reopening their recruitments.

Zymear Smith, a four-star prospect according to the 247Sports composite rankings, plays high school football at North Caroline in Maryland. He initially committed to Alabama in March but recently took an official visit to Maryland. The 247 composite ranks him as the No. 12 athlete in the class.

Miles Johnson, a three-star prospect, plays high school football at T.R. Miller in Brewton. He committed to Alabama in October when Nick Saban was still the Crimson Tide’s head coach before Kalen DeBoer took over. The 247 Composite ranks Johnson as the No. 51 linebacker in the 2025 class. He has other offers from Florida, Liberty, and Mississippi State.

Despite these decommitments, Alabama had gained two commitments earlier on Wednesday. Four-star Ohio edge Justin Hill announced his pledge, choosing Alabama over Ohio State, Oregon, and Southern Cal. Later, kicker Peter Notaro also committed, with Kohl’s Professional Camps ranking him as the No. 4 kicker in the 2025 class.

Even after the decommitments, Alabama’s 2025 recruiting class remained ranked No. 2 nationally according to the 247 composite, sitting behind Ohio State.
