Jack Conklin recently made a positive announcement. The starting right tackle for the Cleveland Browns said on Instagram that he is prepared to play again.
In the Week 1 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, Conklin tore his ACL, ending his career as a two-time All-Pro. Before Conklin also got hurt, the rookie fourth-round pick Dawand Jones played well, so the Browns were lucky to have him waiting in the wings.
Conklin acknowledged his wife and mentioned Nick Chubb, who suffered an ACL and MCL tear the week following Conklin, as he made his comeback announcement. The large offensive lineman, who goes by Bane, called Chubb—a die-hard Batman fan—the Dark Knight.
Considering that Jedrick Wills of the Browns also finished his season on injured reserve, this news is fantastic. They were on their fifth and sixth choices at the position going into the playoffs.
The Browns’ offensive lineman position might be congested.
With three healthy players, the Browns will have a problem on their hands, but a good one. Although Conklin, Jones, and Wills are all qualified starters, only two will be available when the season begins.
Although there is a belief that Conklin will start the season behind Jones on the bench, that may not be the case. Even with Jones’ 2023 level of skill, Conklin still has the best track record and highest salary.
Andy Dickerson, the new offensive line coach, will be involved in all of this, and ideally, this will be the last problem he has to handle.
