Knicks Sign Tyler Kolek to Four-Year Deal
The New York Knicks have secured rookie guard Tyler Kolek on a four-year, $9.06 million contract, according to Fred Katz of The Athletic. This signing was facilitated through the second-round pick exception, allowing Kolek to earn the maximum salary possible for the first three years, while the fourth year remains non-guaranteed and includes a team option.
New York acquired Kolek’s rights, the 34th overall pick, by trading three future second-round picks to the Portland Trail Blazers.
Kolek, a 23-year-old point guard, had a standout senior season at Marquette in 2023-24. He averaged 15.3 points per game (PPG), 4.9 rebounds per game (RPG), 7.7 assists per game (APG), and 1.2 steals per game (SPG) over 31 games, playing an average of 33 minutes per game (MPG). His shooting percentages were .496 from the field, .388 from beyond the arc, and .851 from the free-throw line.
Kolek’s performance earned him recognition, including being named the Big East Player of the Year. His ability to contribute in multiple facets of the game makes him a valuable addition to the Knicks’ roster.
