ESPN Sad News: Just In Golden State Warriors Confirm The Another Major Set Back As Top Experienced Star Confirm He Wants To Leave

Klay Thompson Bids Farewell to Warriors

An era is coming to an end for the Golden State Warriors as their dynasty continues to unravel. This week, Klay Thompson, a pivotal part of the “Splash Brothers” duo, signed with the Dallas Mavericks as a free agent.

Thompson shared a heartfelt goodbye message on Instagram, thanking the Warriors and their fans, according to KNBR.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest perimeter shooters in NBA history, Thompson, alongside Stephen Curry, helped lead the Warriors to four NBA championships in eight seasons, starting from the 2014-15 season. Thompson had numerous standout performances in the playoffs when the team needed him most.

However, during the 2019 NBA Finals, Thompson tore his ACL, causing him to miss the entire following season. Just before the 2020-21 season, he suffered another setback by tearing his Achilles.

When he returned in the fall of 2021, Thompson was not the same player. His three-point shooting was less consistent, and his defense had significantly declined.

Thompson now joins a Mavericks team that recently lost the 2024 NBA Finals to the Boston Celtics and is in dire need of additional offensive options besides Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.

Though Thompson may not be at his peak, he can still provide valuable support to Doncic and Irving, offering a reliable outlet and helping to prevent defenses from focusing solely on them.
