Good News: Hurricanes Confirm Another Commitment From Super Top Talented Star

Top interior offensive lineman S.J. Alofaituli committed to the Hurricanes on Friday afternoon, extending Miami’s winning streak on the recruiting trail. The Hurricanes also defeated Michigan and Nebraska.

The 2025 ESPN 300 ranks the five-star offensive guard from Bishop Gorman High School in Nevada as the 10th overall talent. After making official visits to Miami, Michigan, and Nebraska last month, Alofaituli, a 6-foot-3, 285-pound blocker, made his selection. He enters the Hurricanes 2025 class as the top-ranked talent committed to the program this cycle.

Heading up a group that includes former USC commit Hylton Stubbs, who committed to the Hurricanes on July 4, inside linebacker Gavin Nix (No. 191 in the 2025 ESPN 300), defensive end Herbert Scroggins (No. 262), and cornerback Chris Ewald (No. 274), is coach Mario Cristobal of Alofaituli, who has received ten commitments since June 18. Elijah Melendez, a four-star inside linebacker who has committed to Miami since December, is still the Hurricanes’ top pick in the 2025 class of defenders.
One of the more seasoned offensive lineman in the 2025 class, Alofaituli had attention from both the SEC and Big Ten on his long list of offers. Alofaituli was drawn to Coral Gables in part because of Miami offensive line coach Alex Mirabal and the program’s reputation for developing elite offensive line talent.

“The vibe and the people in the building that really make the program possible is really what stuck out to me,” he stated to ESPN. “Coach Cristobal, Coach Mirabal, and [graduate assistant] Reggie Bain were overall just great people and they know how to develop offensive linemen there.”

Alofaituli, a four-year starter who hails from Ewa Beach, Hawaii, is a pillar on the offensive line at nationally ranked Bishop Gorman and will finish his high school career there. Alofaituli, a dynamic blocker across the line for a team that won the Nevada 5A Division I state championship last autumn after finishing 12-0, is anticipated to play center or guard at the next level.

Alofaituli plans to stop recruiting as soon as he commits.
“It would be closed for now,” he stated. “But if anything happens then I’d be willing to take visits.”

Miami didn’t start the month among ESPN’s top-25 picks for the 2025 class. As July heats up on the recruiting path, the Hurricanes are heading upward with Alofaituli’s pledge capping a strong run for Cristobal & Co.
