Done Deal: Miami Heat Re-Sign Five-Time NBA All-Star To Contract Extension

The Miami Heat have signed center Bam Adebayo to a long-term contract, as anticipated.

The group declared that they had given him an extension to 2028–2029. The reported value of the three-year extension is $166 million.

“Bam Adebayo has re-signed with the Miami HEAT to an extended contract, the team announced today. The terms of the contract were kept confidential per club policy.
In 71 games (all starts) with the HEAT the previous season, Adebayo, a three-time NBA All-Star and five-time selection to the All-Defensive Team, averaged 19.3 points, a team-high 10.4 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.14 steals, and 34.0 minutes while shooting 52.1 percent from the field. Leading the team in points, rebounds, steals, blocks, field goals made, double-figure scoring games, 20-point games, double-figure rebounding games, double-doubles, triple-doubles, and minutes, he also set single-season career highs in defensive rebounds, total rebounds, double-doubles, and three-point field goal percentage. In addition to handing out 278 assists, his seventh consecutive season with at least 100 assists, establishing the second-longest such streak in HEAT history, he scored 1,367 points, his fifth consecutive 1,000-point season, tying the third-most in team history. From November 16 to November 28, Adebayo played 10 games in a row with at least 20 points, the longest string by a Heat player since LeBron James in 2014. Twice, from November 6–14 and January 5–14, he recorded at least 20 points and 10

rebounds in five consecutive games. He is the only player from the HEAT to do so in a single season and only the third player in team history to have done so in at least five consecutive games, behind Shaquille O’Neal and LeBron James. When Adebayo accomplished the feat on January 24 against Memphis, he became the first player in team history to post at least 15 points, 15 rebounds, six assists, and six blocks in a single game. On March 24 against Cleveland, he then recorded 15 points, 16 rebounds, and five steals, making him only the second player in team history to reach at least those totals, after Glen Rice in 1993. On February 13 against Milwaukee, he recorded a triple-double of 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists, which is the third-highest in franchise history and the eighth of his career. On March 17, he made the game-winning, buzzer-beating basket in Detroit. It was only his second career game-winning basket with less than a second remaining, and the only other player with more as a HEAT member is Dwyane Wade (3). In terms of opponent field goals made, opponent offensive rebounds per game, and opponent points allowed per game, Adebayo led a defense that was third in all three categories. In addition, he has contributed to Miami’s postseason success in six of his seven seasons, including two division crowns and an Eastern Conference championship.”
