Among the top recruiting programs in the nation is the LSU football program. According to On3, LSU’s 2025 recruiting class is presently ranked second in the SEC and fourth nationally. The best prospect from the state of Indiana has joined the class, making it a little stronger overall.
According to Hayes Fawcett of On3, Damien Shanklin has committed to LSU. He rejected Ohio State and Alabama in favor of LSU.
Six foot five inches and 245 pounds, Shanklin is a four-star edge recruit from Indianapolis, Indiana. During his time playing football for Warren Central High School, he recorded 97 tackles, 22 TFLs, six sacks, and one interception.
Shanklin is the finest player from Indiana and ranked as the 48th best prospect in the nation by 247Sports. Shanklin is currently ranked 86th in the country by On3.
He joins defensive lineman Brandon Brown and Zion Williams, two other recent LSU recruits.
Mike Kirschner, the high school coach at Shanklin, remembered the first day of school when he enrolled as a freshman.
Kirschner remarked, “At that age, he was obviously much skinnier.” “However, he was already 6-2 or 6-3, and his physical prowess and the way an eighth-grader ran to the ball impressed me.” He’s a breeze to coach. You shouldn’t be concerned about him because he turns up every day.
QB Bryce Underwood of Mississippi, another standout prospect in the nation, is a member of the LSU football program.
