**Tennessee Football Lands Two Players on First Team All-American List**
The Tennessee Volunteers football program has earned significant recognition with two players named to the preseason Walter Camp Football All-American list. This distinction highlights the team’s talent on both sides of the ball.
Center Cooper Mays and edge rusher James Pearce Jr. have been selected for the first team All-American list. As Tennessee starts Nico Iamaleava at quarterback in his debut season as the full-time starter, having elite players like Mays and Pearce Jr. will be crucial for the team’s success.
According to ESPN’s Matt Miller, Pearce Jr. is projected to be a top pick in the next NFL draft. Miller’s latest mock draft has Pearce Jr. going fourth overall to the Tennessee Titans. Miller describes Pearce as an exceptional talent at 6-foot-5 and 242 pounds, with impressive quickness and a notable 9.5 sacks last season, along with a 52-yard pick-six. Pearce’s addition would significantly bolster the Titans’ defense alongside Harold Landry III.
The Volunteers aim to build on their achievements from last season under head coach Josh Heupel. The performances of Mays and Pearce Jr. will be pivotal to Tennessee’s potential playoff run this year.
