Good News: Texas Rangers Confirm Another Important Addition To Squad

Rangers Promote Daniel Robert to MLB Roster

The Texas Rangers have called up reliever Daniel Robert to the MLB roster for tonight’s game against the Angels. Grant Anderson has been optioned to Triple-A Round Rock to make room in the bullpen. Additionally, left-hander Antoine Kelly has been designated for assignment to clear space on the 40-man roster.

Robert, who turns 30 in a few weeks, is getting his first major league call-up. Drafted in the 21st round in 2017 from Auburn, Robert has spent parts of three seasons with Round Rock, including all of 2024. After struggling in his initial seasons, he has excelled this year with a 2.35 ERA over 25 appearances.

Robert has struck out over 35% of batters and walked just 6.1%, a significant improvement from last season’s 26.4% strikeout rate and nearly 12% walk rate. In his last 10 2/3 innings, he has 12 strikeouts and no walks.

Antoine Kelly, a 24-year-old former second-round pick by the Brewers, has been removed from the roster. Acquired by Texas in the Matt Bush trade at the 2022 deadline, Kelly has struggled this season with a 9.39 ERA at Round Rock, walking 21 of 91 batters faced. These issues led to his demotion to Double-A last week and now his removal from the roster. The Rangers have five days to trade or waive Kelly. Despite his current control issues, Kelly showed promise last season with a 1.95 ERA and 32% strikeout rate in Double-A and may attract interest on waivers due to his remaining options.
