Latest Bruins News: 29 Years-Old Superstar Former Stanley Cup Winner Rejects Maple Leafs And Finally Sign With Boston Bruins

**Defenseman Nikita Zadorov Joins Bruins with Stanley Cup Ambitions**

Nikita Zadorov, who signed with the Boston Bruins in free agency last week, donned his new jersey for the first time on Monday morning. The 6-foot-6, 248-pound defenseman met with the media at Warrior Ice Arena after securing a six-year, $30 million contract.

Zadorov will wear the No. 91 jersey, a departure from the No. 16 he sported for over seven seasons with the Colorado Avalanche, Chicago Blackhawks, and Calgary Flames. The No. 16 is retired by the Bruins in honor of Rick Middleton, prompting Zadorov to choose No.

91, which he wore with the Vancouver Canucks last season. “Upside down 16,” he explained, noting that many numbers are retired on Original 6 teams due to their rich histories.

The last Bruin to wear No. 91 was Marc Savard, with whom Zadorov has a connection. Savard, Zadorov’s assistant coach with the Flames last season, influenced his decision. “I know Marc Savard wore it. He was my coach last year. I have to text Savvy. I stole his number,” Zadorov said.

The Bruins hope Zadorov will deliver strong performance similar to his previous seasons. The 29-year-old defenseman recorded six goals and 14 assists, totaling 20 points, during the 2023-24 season.
