**Browns RT Jack Conklin Set to Participate in Training Camp**
The Cleveland Browns were hit hard by injuries last season, particularly at the offensive tackle position. Jedrick Wills, Jack Conklin, and Dawand Jones all suffered season-ending injuries in 2023, making their rehab progress a critical storyline to watch.
Conklin was injured in Week 1, suffering ACL and MCL tears. The 29-year-old underwent surgery and missed the rest of the season, marking his second injury-plagued year with Cleveland. Having missed OTAs and minicamp due to rehab, Conklin recently announced on Instagram that he has recovered.
As a result, Conklin is expected to participate in training camp this summer, aiming to reclaim his starting right tackle position. Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal confirms that Conklin, a former first-round pick, is the favorite for the role. Jones, who filled in well during Conklin’s absence and was healthy for spring practices, would return to a backup role if Conklin is fully fit for the 2024 season.
Conklin signed a four-year, $60 million extension in 2022, securing his place with the Browns for the foreseeable future. However, much of his compensation in 2025 and 2026 is non-guaranteed, leaving his future with the team uncertain post-2024. His health and performance this fall will significantly influence the Browns’ decisions regarding the right tackle position.
Jones, under contract for the next three years, made 11 appearances and nine starts before his injury. Depending on Conklin’s performance and health this season, Jones could potentially succeed him. Improved health along the offensive line would be a much-needed improvement for Cleveland after last season’s challenges.
