Good News: Dallas Mavericks sign potential-filled young Star to contract

Over the past few weeks, the Dallas Mavericks have had an amazing offseason, and they have assembled a team that is ready to contend in the competitive Western Conference the following season.

Signing Klay Thompson to a three-year contract was their greatest summertime move. They also signed Naji Marshall and acquired Quentin Grimes.

With Summer League in Las Vegas beginning tomorrow, Dallas is expertly restocking their roster around Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic. A few lesser transactions are also beginning to come together for the squad.

On Wednesday, Dallas re-signed Brandon Williams to a two-way contract. On Thursday, the Mavs took a different approach with respect to one of the guys that they had in Summer League.
Jazian Gortman signs a contract with the Dallas Mavericks

Before Summer League, the Mavs signed Jazian Gortman to an Exhibit 9/10 deal, according to Keith Smith of Spotrac. Now that the Mavs have used a guard in two consecutive moves, Gortman may be able to play his way into a two-way position.

In the previous G League season, Gortman shot 30.6 percent from beyond the arc and 40.6 percent from the field to average 9.4 points, 2.4 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 0.5 steals a game. Gortman makes up for his poor 3-point shooting performance from the previous season with his other talents.

Gortman, who is 6-foot-2 and with a 6-foot-9 wingspan, is built like a guard defender. He has all the skills necessary to keep improving in that area. He is athletic and has good lateral movement.
Gortman is very shifty and has a tremendous grip on offense. Gortman is an excellent finisher around the rim and uses his tight handle to get to his areas and go into a pull-up jumper. He scores in the paint using a variety of finishes, and he never misses an opportunity to showcase his athleticism with some vicious dunks.

At Summer League, Gortman will have the opportunity to prove himself, and Mavs fans should be eager to watch him. At just 21 years old, he has the potential to be an NBA rotation player after being a five-star recruit in high school.

Keep checking back for the most recent information on Jazian Gortman and the Dallas Mavericks during Summer League.
