Tyler Watts of Air Alamo identified the best players the Spurs could acquire with their mid-level exception, highlighting Luke Kennard as a prime candidate.
Watts noted that while Barnes is a competent three-point shooter, the team needs a specialist who can pose a threat from anywhere on the arc:
Kennard is one of the league’s top marksmen, boasting a career 43.9 percent three-point shooting rate and twice leading the NBA. Last season, he made 45.0 percent of his six attempts per game despite being limited to 39 games due to injury. Now healthy, Kennard is eager to join a contender.
If the Spurs manage to secure Kennard, they could field a roster capable of competing with the league’s top teams, making a playoff appearance a realistic goal and posing a significant challenge to the rest of the Western Conference.
