Breaking: Highly Rated SEC Four-Star Receiver Rejects Georgia And Commits to Tennessee

**Four-Star WR Travis Smith Jr. Commits to Tennessee**

Tennessee made a significant move on the recruiting front by securing a commitment from four-star receiver Travis Smith Jr. out of Georgia on Saturday. Smith, who was previously considered a Georgia lean, ultimately chose Tennessee after an impactful final official visit.

Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 200 pounds, Smith is a notable addition to the Volunteers. According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, he is ranked 113th nationally in the class of 2025, the 16th-ranked receiver, and the 14th-ranked player from Georgia. On3’s rankings are even more favorable, placing him as the 59th overall player in the class.

Smith, an Atlanta native, selected Tennessee over other prestigious SEC programs, including Auburn, Alabama, and Georgia. Throughout June, he made official visits to each of his top choices, ultimately deciding on Tennessee. His relationship with Tennessee began last September when he received an offer from the Volunteers. Subsequent visits to Knoxville, including attending games against Texas A&M and Georgia, solidified his decision.

Smith’s addition brings a much-needed physical presence to Tennessee’s receiving corps. Known for his size and ability to excel in contested catch situations, Smith compensates for his lack of elite speed with his capacity to outmaneuver defenders and secure the ball. This skill set fills a gap in Tennessee’s current class, which previously lacked a receiver with his particular attributes.

With Smith’s commitment, Tennessee’s 2025 recruiting class now boasts 17 commitments. This addition has propelled the Volunteers to No. 11 in the overall class rankings, reflecting the strength and promise of their recruiting efforts.

Smith’s decision to join Tennessee is a significant victory for the Volunteers, highlighting their ability to attract top talent and compete with other SEC powerhouses. His presence on the field is anticipated to make a substantial impact, further enhancing Tennessee’s offensive capabilities and bolstering their future prospects.
