Before his AHL career, Robertson spent four seasons with the Edmonton Oil Kings in the Western Hockey League (WHL). He served as alternate captain for three seasons from 2018 to 2021, accumulating 127 points (31 goals, 96 assists) in 208 WHL games. The 6-foot-4 defender had his best WHL season in 2019-20, nearly averaging a point per game with a career-high 47 points (13 goals, 34 assists) in 60 regular-season games.
