FOX 9 MINNEAPOLIS – The hopes of seeing Carlos Correa on the field by Minnesota Twins fans watching Tuesday night’s Major League Baseball All-Star Game will be dashed.
Baseball’s midsummer classic will not feature Correa due to a right heel issue that he has been diagnosed with plantar fasciitis. Due to an injury, Correa was unable to play in the final two games before the All-Star break. After batting, he was selected for his third All-Star team, his first with the Twins.308 in 75 games with 13 home runs, 17 doubles, and 41 RBI.
Last season, Correa’s left foot plantar fasciitis kept him out of the game for a large portion of the regular season. Willi Castro, a utility infielder who is starting his first All-Star Game in lieu of Jose Altuve, is the only player from the Twins that will remain on the squad.
The Twins trail the Cleveland Guardians by 4.5 games in the American League Central Division with a 54-42 record at the All-Star break. Right now, the Twins have the second Wild Card berth. After the break, they’ll play five home games, opening at Target Field with two games against the Milwaukee Brewers.
