The Chicago Bulls officially waived RaiQuan Gray on Saturday, a recent acquisition in the sign-and-trade involving DeMar DeRozan.
Gray was part of the blockbuster trade that saw DeRozan sent to the Sacramento Kings. In return, the Bulls received Gray from the San Antonio Spurs and Chris Duarte from the Kings.
It wasn’t unexpected that the Bulls released Gray, as he was included as part of the trade, and the team likely wants to use the two-way contract slot for a summer league player.
Currently, the Bulls have Adama Sanogo and Andrew Funk on two-way contracts. Sanogo played briefly with the Bulls last season, while Funk appeared in five games. Both players had significant playing time with the Windy City Bulls in the NBA G League.
Gray, a 25-year-old forward, has limited NBA experience, appearing in four games with the Brooklyn Nets and Spurs over the past two years. Most of his professional play has been in the G League with the Long Island Nets and Austin Spurs. Last season with Austin, he averaged 15.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game. Gray hopes to secure a roster spot during the NBA 2K25 Summer League in Las Vegas.
The Bulls continue to search for a third player to fill their final two-way slot during summer league play.
