**Chris Paul Joins Spurs on 1-Year Deal**

After being waived by the Golden State Warriors, 11-time All-Star Chris Paul has signed a 1-year, $11 million deal with the San Antonio Spurs, the team announced on July 7. Paul will now team up with Victor Wembanyama in San Antonio.

Paul played 58 games with the Warriors last season, starting 18. He averaged 9.2 points, 6.8 assists, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.20 steals in 26.4 minutes per game, finishing with the NBA’s second-best assist-to-turnover ratio (5.17).

Over his 19-year career, Paul has averaged 17.5 points, 9.4 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.12 steals in 34.1 minutes per game across 1,272 games (1,232 starts) with Golden State, Phoenix, Oklahoma City, Houston, LA Clippers, and New Orleans. He has shot 47.1% from the field, 36.9% from three, and 87.0% from the foul line. Paul has made 15 playoff appearances, averaging 20.0 points, 8.3 assists, and 4.9 rebounds while shooting 48.4% overall and 37.3% from three.

 

A member of the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team, Paul ranks third all-time in both assists (11,894) and steals (2,614), trailing only Jason Kidd and John Stockton. He is the only player in NBA history with at least 22,000 points, 11,000 assists, and 2,500 steals, and his 4.01 career assist-to-turnover ratio is fourth-best in league history.

Paul’s accolades include 11 All-NBA and nine All-Defensive Team selections, 12 All-Star appearances, two Olympic gold medals (2008, 2012), 2013 NBA All-Star Game MVP, 2005-06 Rookie of the Year, and five NBA Community Assist awards, along with the 2016 Mannie Jackson Human Spirit Award from the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Paul was drafted fourth overall by New Orleans in the 2005 NBA Draft out of Wake Forest University.
