**Auburn Football Adds Late LB Transfer**
On Thursday evening, Auburn football announced the addition of former Maryland linebacker Fa’Najae Gotay as a transfer. Gotay, a graduate transfer, entered the portal in June after spending six seasons with Maryland.
Gotay was a key player in Maryland’s linebacker rotation in 2019 and 2020, following a redshirt freshman year in 2018 when he played four games. He missed the 2021 season due to a season-ending injury in the opener but appeared in every game in 2022 and 2023.
Over his six years at Maryland, Gotay accumulated 133 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, three sacks, two interceptions, four pass deflections, and one forced fumble.
Gotay is the second linebacker transfer to join Auburn football, following former Duke linebacker Dorian Mausi Jr. He joins returners Eugene Asante and Austin Keys, adding veteran experience to a group that includes young talents like Demarcus Riddick and DJ Barber.
According to Auburn Undercover, the Tigers have about 80 scholarships in use, including those offered to Gotay and another recent transfer, Jahquez Robinson.
