Latest NBA Trade News: Dallas Mavericks Confirm To Reach Mutual Agreement To Sign 55million NBA Star

**Mavericks Eye Veteran Guard Addition**

The Dallas Mavericks have reportedly evaluated a seasoned guard during free agency. After an active start, the team is now exploring remaining options for added depth before the 2024-25 season.

Given the team’s reliance on guard play and Kyrie Irving’s inconsistent availability since joining Dallas, acquiring a veteran guard on a minimum contract appears logical as training camp approaches.

According to recent information, the Mavericks are considering such a move. Dalton Trigg of DallasBasketball.com revealed that the Mavs have worked out veteran guard Malachi Flynn. While the exact timing of the workout is unclear, it indicates Dallas’ interest in bolstering their backcourt.

This is not the first time the Mavericks have shown interest in Flynn. Michael Scotto of HoopsHype noted Dallas’ early free agency interest in the former first-round pick, and the recent workout suggests progress in that regard.

Flynn could be a valuable addition to Dallas’ second unit, providing support when Luka Doncic and/or Irving are not on the court. The San Diego State alum has played 214 games since 2020, averaging 5.5 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game.

At 26, Flynn still holds potential. Despite being an average shooter (33.4% from three-point range, 74.5% from the free-throw line, and 49.9% true shooting), he would benefit from guidance under coach Jason Kidd and playing alongside stars like Doncic, Irving, and Klay Thompson.

Flynn demonstrated his ability as a spark plug in 24 games with the Detroit Pistons last year, averaging 8.0 points per game.

With multiple forwards and big men already in place, adding a guard to complete the bench would be a strategic move for the reigning Western Conference champions. Whether the interest in Flynn materializes into a signing remains to be seen.
