Latest Rangers News: Texas Rangers reportedly Confirm To Trade Surprise All-Star Hitter At 2024 MLB Trade Deadline

**Texas Rangers May Trade Surprise All-Star Hitter at 2024 MLB Trade Deadline**

The Texas Rangers, the reigning World Series champions with one of MLB’s highest payrolls, are facing a disappointing season and might become sellers at the MLB trade deadline, potentially trading a surprising player.

Currently, the Rangers are over seven games behind the final playoff spot in the American League. As their playoff odds continue to diminish, rival teams are scouting Texas’ roster.

Despite still being in the playoff race, there is a growing belief that Texas will be selling at the trade deadline. While they are expected to primarily shop players with expiring contracts, another notable player might be available.

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Rangers might consider offers for outfielder Adolis Garcia and first baseman Nathaniel Lowe.

Garcia, 31, has never been known for a high batting average. He achieved a career-best .250 average in 2022 and posted his highest on-base percentage (.328) and slugging percentage (.508) last season. Despite his power, Garcia’s OBP over the last three seasons is just .301 in 2,058 at-bats.

Trading Garcia this summer would mean selling low on the two-time All-Star and 2023 ALCS MVP. Rosenthal notes that Texas would need to be “overwhelmed” by a trade offer to move Garcia. However, the possibility of considering such a move indicates the Rangers’ significant decline in 2024.
