Good News: Just LSU Tigers Signs Three Experienced Players from the Transfer Portal

Avery Hodge, an infielder, Jalia Lassiter, an outfielder, and Ashley Vallejo, a pitcher, have been added to the LSU softball team’s 2025 roster, according to head coach Beth Torina.

After finishing the 2024 season with 21 hits, a.284 batting average, 28 runs, nine RBIs, and six extra-base hits, Hodge—a two-time national champion at Oklahoma—is ready to move on. In the 2024 Women’s College World Series, she had four hits—two doubles and four runs scored—to assist the Sooners capture the national championship. Hodge had a batting average of.278 across her two seasons at OU, with 27 hits, 49 runs, 12 RBI, and eight stolen bases. Hodge has two more years of eligibility before he joins the LSU Tigers.

Lassiter, a two-time NFCA South All-Region pick, topped Ole Miss in hits and batting average (.314) during the previous campaign. In addition, she scored 34 runs, 29 RBI, stole 18 bases, and had 16 extra-base hits, including four triples and four home runs. Lassiter had a.987 fielding percentage in the outfield last season, making one mistake in 77 opportunities. Lassiter had 109 hits in her two seasons with the Rebels, including nine triples and seven home runs, along with 72 runs scored, 51 RBI, 47 walks, and 37 stolen bases. Her batting average was.302 throughout that time. With a.994 career fielding percentage, 171 putouts, four assists, and one error in 176 opportunities, the Atmore, Alabama native plays solid defense. Lassiter has two more years of eligibility when he enrolls at LSU.


Vallejo spent four seasons as a pitcher at McNeese, where her record was 45–24 with a 2.44 ERA and 306 strikeouts in 416.2 innings pitched. Throughout her career, she has threw 16 shutouts and recorded two saves. Vallejo is a two-time All-SLC pick and assisted in leading the Cowgirls to three straight Southland Conference (SLC) regular-season championships. Vallejo won the 2022 SLC Pitcher of the Year award as well as being selected to the NFCA South All-Region team. Vallejo has one more year of eligibility before he joins the Tigers.
