Done Deal: Just In Another Top Talented Highly Rated SEC 5-Star Who Rejects Alabama Just Commit To Miami Hurricanes Football

Rivals experts state Miami football commit Hylton Stubbs is nearing five-star status

Four-star safety Hylton Stubbs, who committed to the Miami football program on July 4, is close to earning a five-star rating according to Rivals.com experts. Rivals national recruiting analyst John Garcia Jr. and national rankings director Adam Friedman confirmed this in a discussion on Stubbs’ status.

Stubbs is ranked 27th overall, seventh in Florida, and third among safeties in the 2025 Rivals class. He is the highest-ranked player in Miami’s 2025 class by Rivals. Both Friedman and Garcia provided detailed analysis on why Stubbs is approaching five-star status.

Friedman praised Stubbs’ coverage skills, wingspan, leaping ability, and physical style, all of which he believes will make Stubbs a standout at the next level. Standing at 6’2 and weighing 190 pounds, Stubbs has the ideal size for a collegiate safety.

Garcia highlighted Stubbs’ significant stock increase over the past year, noting his impressive range and ball skills in coverage, as well as his ability to make plays closer to the line of scrimmage. Although projected as a safety, Garcia was particularly impressed with Stubbs’ comfort in space and his man coverage skills, which rival those of any non-cornerback prospects in the cycle. Miami is building a versatile secondary, especially with its safeties.

Stubbs is a key player in an exceptional 2025 Miami secondary class, which also includes four-star safety Amari Wallace, cornerback Chris Ewald, and three-star cornerback Timothy Merritt. Wallace, listed as a cornerback by some recruiting outlets, will add flexibility to Miami’s future secondary alongside Stubbs.

The 2025 Miami class is currently ranked 10th by Rivals. Fifteen of Miami’s 18 commits for 2025 are rated four stars by Rivals. The Hurricanes are on track to secure a top-10 class for the third consecutive year and to sign the top-ranked class in the ACC for the third straight cycle.
