**Miami Football Secures First 2025 WR Commit with 4-Star Daylyn Upshaw**
The Miami football program received a significant boost on Saturday as four-star wide receiver Daylyn Upshaw committed to the 2025 class. Upshaw, ranked 387th overall, 59th among wide receivers, and 18th in Alabama according to the 247Sports composite rankings, hails from Phenix City, Central.
Upshaw’s decision followed official visits to Miami, Central Florida, and Florida in June, as noted by his 247Sports profile. Over the past two seasons, he has amassed 89 receptions for 1,627 yards and 18 touchdowns. In 2023, he had a standout season with 59 receptions for 1,185 yards and 15 touchdowns, per Max Preps.
Playing alongside 2024 five-star Auburn signee Cam Coleman, Upshaw shined in 2023. He is the 18th commitment in Miami’s 2025 class, the 10th on offense, and the 14th blue-chip prospect. Miami wide receiver coach Kevin Beard was the primary recruiter for Upshaw.
With Upshaw’s addition, Miami now has commitments for every offensive position in its 2024 class, lacking only an interior lineman on defense. More commitments are expected in the next 10 days to two weeks.
Notable upcoming announcements include five-star cornerback D.J. Pickett on July 17, three-star defensive lineman Jarquez Carter on July 18, four-star cornerback Jaboree Antoine and three-star defensive lineman Floyd Boucard on July 20, and four-star wide receiver Vernell Brown III on July 21, all strongly considering Miami.
Upshaw is the second Alabama recruit in Miami’s 2025 class, joining three-star cornerback Timothy Merritt from Birmingham Parker, who committed on June 9. Miami currently has four players from Alabama on its roster, including 2024 signees linebacker Cameron Pruitt and edge rusher Cole McConathy II.
With Upshaw’s commitment, Miami’s 2025 class remains ranked ninth. The Hurricanes aim for a top 10 class for the third consecutive year and potentially a second consecutive top-five class, depending on upcoming commitments.
