**New York Rangers Re-Sign Matthew Robertson to One-Year Contract**

On Monday, New York Rangers president and general manager Chris Drury announced the re-signing of defenseman Matthew Robertson to a one-year, two-way contract. Robertson will earn the league minimum of $775,000 at the NHL level.

Robertson, who has been with the Rangers since 2019, has yet to make his NHL debut. Since turning pro in 2021-22, the 23-year-old has played exclusively with the Hartford Wolf Pack in the AHL. In 190 AHL games, the Edmonton native has recorded 55 points (10 goals, 45 assists). During the 2023-24 season, he played a career-high 68 games, tallying 21 points (four goals, 17 assists) and a minus-11 rating. He added one assist with a minus-7 rating in 10 Calder Cup Playoff games. His best AHL season was in 2022-23, with 23 points (five goals, 18 assists) in 57 games.

 

Before his AHL career, Robertson spent four seasons with the Edmonton Oil Kings in the WHL, serving as alternate captain for three seasons and accumulating 127 points (31 goals, 96 assists) in 208 games. His standout season was 2019-20, with 47 points (13 goals, 34 assists) in 60 games.

Internationally, Robertson has represented Team Canada twice, earning six points (two goals, four assists) at the 2017 U17 World Hockey Championships and two assists at the 2017 U18 World Junior Championship.

Robertson was originally drafted by the Rangers in the second round (No. 49) of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.
