CORVALLIS, Oregon — Head coach Lindsey Behonick has announced Kalli Schoening’s signing to the roster via the transfer portal ahead of the 2024 season.
Schoening, who began her scholastic career at New Mexico State, comes to Corvallis from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida, to round off her career at Beaver State.
Schoening led the Tritons to a four-seed in the NCAA Division II Tournament in both of their Florida seasons. She finished with a total of 262 kills (155 in 2023) across 184 sets in 54 matches, along with 12 assists. She recorded 211.1 defensive blocks, including 134.0 in 2023.
She was awarded to the Sunshine State Conference’s All-League team and the conference’s Defensive Player of the Week in early November after leading the Triton defense with 1.28 blocks per set, which ranked 10th in the country.
During her first 18 matches (40 sets) in college, Schoening played for New Mexico State, where she finished with 30 kills and 68 assists. She recorded 22 kills in the 2021 campaign, including a season-high six versus South Florida. She had eight digs and 33.0 blocks overall, six of which were solo efforts.
What Coach Behonick has to say: “We have a bright spot in Kalli. She is mature, responsible, driven, and well-traveled. She seems to have a great deal of perspective, knowledge, and thankfulness in her life, and she is willing to take on any challenge. Given her strength in blocking, we are thrilled that she will add another level and dimension to our defensive and blocking plan this autumn. We are thrilled to have her return to Oregon, her birth state, to complete her career.”
